Floating Production Unit (FPU) Trunojoyo Topside Facility Design


Husky CNOOC (Madura) Ltd. (HCML) plans to develop the Madura Strait Block MDA & MBH gas reserves for sales gas to buyers in Java Island through a tie-in to the existing 28” East Java Gas Pipeline (EJGP). This field is located offshore in the Madura Strait East Java.

The overall field development scheme is as follows;

  • The MDA gas will be produced using 5 (five) production wells to a capacity of 100 MMscfd, while the MBH gas will be produced using 2 (two) wells at a production of 50 MMscfd, and the MDK gas will be produced using 2 (two) wells at a production of 24 MMscfd. The water depth at MDA, MBH and MDK fields is 96.4m (316.4 ft), 79.7m (261.6 ft) and 103.8m (340.5 ft) w.r.t MSL respectively. 
  • MDA gas production will free flow to MBH through a 27.1 km long gas pipeline to MBH. 
  • The MDK platform is 100 m away from MDA-MBH Pipeline. The tie-in point on the pipeline is 10.5 km from the MDA Platform. 
  • The production from the above wellhead platforms are routed to the FPU, whereby the gas is treated, compressed in a 2-stage turbine driven compressors, and exported into the EJGP pipeline. The 2x50% processing trains are designed for a total of 175 MMscfd. All associated utilities are provided as part of the facilities design.
  • The MBH WHP electric power is supplied from the FPU through subsea cable. 
  • All wellhead platforms have standalone control systems and integrated with the FPU control system via telecom/fiber optical cable network for remote control / monitoring from FPU control room.

PT Synergy Engineering has been awarded the contract by the Consortium EPC to deliver a full multi-discipline Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detail Design Engineering (DDE) for the Topside Facility of the Lease Purchase Floating Production Unit (FPU). This covers all disciplines including Process, Safety, Mechanical, Piping, 3D modeling, Instrumentation, Controls, Telecoms, Electrical, Structural and Pipeline. Follow-on Engineering was also performed, including Interface engineering (with the Hull and Marine, Living Quarters, as well as the WHP); Fabrication / Construction Support; and Commissioning/Start-up Support.
